Fishing off the waters surrounding Victoria and Sidney and Sooke's waterfront is a saltwater anglers paradise. The best part about living on Vancouver Island is the moderate climate year round allowing for salmon fishing 365 days a year. There is easy access to a variety of fishing tour operators, tackle shops, outfitters and marinas.
When is the best time to fish:
January to March produces winter Chinook in the 10- to 18-pound range
March to April is prime time for big Pacific Halibut.
May to August, there’s excellent fishing for Chinook topping 20 pounds
