Strike is still on! Greater Victoria Public Library labour dispute continues! Please support the library and send a message to your local municipal office urging them to help end the disruption to library services. The libraries are an integral and critical centre of culture in our region.

The powers that be who govern the lives of the Greater Victoria Public Library workers have decided they can't afford to grant them pay equity. I say they can't afford NOT to. A functioning society is possible only with free access to information provided by fairly treated, content workers in our public libraries.
Considering how long the library workers have been victims of the mismanagement of the Greater Victoria Library Board I would like to contribute my vote that the board step down, every one of them. What has gone on is a shameful disgrace. All that was asked for by the workers is wage parity which should be their right. I have never gone to a local library and found the workers sitting around twiddling their finger, leaning on a shovel, or any other wasteful thing. They have always been doing their job, more than can be said for some other workers and especially management employees. Where is the justice in all this. Time to sack the library board that carried this on for do darned long. We don't want to see this happen ever again. The libraries are still important sources of literature and information. Computers are a great help, a supplement, but not a be-all-end-all to knowledge and learning. All the best to the poor souls walking the line outside.
